One Key Fact About Failure that Can Help You Succeed

If you’re reading this, chances are you might have met with some form of failure. I know it burns. I know it stings. I know that if given a chance, you’d rather not deal with it and focus more on enjoying the benefits of success.

Who wouldn’t? That’s how most people would respond but understand that failure is not what you think it is. Most people believe failure usually holds them back from achieving success.

Successful people think differently. They understand that failure can help them succeed. They were more motivated by gain than intimidated by fear. What does this mean? First, failure means pain. It is difficult since there’s pain there. It can be physical pain which is fairly rare but possible but usually, it is a mental and emotional pain.

There’s nothing more painful than thinking you’ve invested a tremendous amount of time, effort, emotional energy, focus, and willpower on something that didn’t pan out.

There’s also social pain because people knew you were working on something and then now you have nothing to show for it. You feel like a fool. It may not be pointing fingers at you but it doesn’t make the pain go away because we want to impress people we love and respect.

Failure means pain and instead of running away from that reality, successful people understand that this means one thing and one thing alone. Since failure can be painful on so many levels, this means they have to work on the project with the urgency it deserves.

This is not playtime. This is not a joke. It’s not a hobby. It’s not something you do just because you have nothing else better to do. It’s real. It demands respect and focus. Successful people acknowledge it will involve the pain.

This is why before they jump in, they get a full understanding of the risks and consequences involved. They don’t shy away from these. They don’t disregard the risk of bankruptcy. They don’t brush the possibility of fiascoes under the rug.

They look at them straight in the eye. They see that monster. They acknowledge it for what it is and then they look at what they stand to gain. Then, there’s this calculated risk that comes out of it.

It’s the pain that keeps them honest. It’s the prospect of losing that keeps their attention focused. This is how you make failure work for you instead of wasting all this tremendous amount of time, effort, and emotional energy by running away from it, making excuses for it, ducking it, and so on, and so forth.

You understand that failure means pain, and this triggers you to step your game up. Use the pain of failure to motivate you. Get the motivation you need to stay focused long enough to achieve victory.

Victory will not happen tomorrow. Victory requires putting in the work, focus, and sacrifice day after day, week after week, month after month, and year after year.

2 Secrets to a Better Future

Stop for just a second, take a look around you and ask yourself if this is the quality of life you were hoping for. If you answered “No”, then my question to you is “why not?” “What are you doing to change your life?” Most people who have been asked what they’ve done to change their lives say “it’s no use because…..” and so it goes…. excuses.

But it doesn’t have to be that way. The first step in getting out of the rut is to stop making excuses and assume responsibility for the quality of your life. You can change your life situation today. How do I know? I know because others have done it. There will always be obstacles, but none that can’t be overcome. The only requirement is the desire to change. Mark Twain once said “It’s not the size of the dog in the fight; it’s the size of the fight in the dog.” If your “want to” is strong enough, you can achieve almost anything you set your mind to.

The second step to getting out of the rut is step out in faith and, as the Nike commercial says, “Just do it”. There is no time like the present to change course. You might not succeed the first time, but you must keep trying. Success will come with persistence. Remember the old saying “Today is the first day of the rest of your life.” Don’t worry about making a mistake. Albert Einstein once said “Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”

So step out. Take a chance, and as William Durant, the founder of General Motors said “Forget past mistakes. Forget failures. Forget everything except what you’re going to do now and do it.”

How to Grow Your Podcast Audience

Once you have decided to launch a podcast, the next main concern for most people is how to grow an audience for it. Your growth and marketing plan should actually be built right into the podcast.

  1. Give it a strong, interesting name

It needs to appeal to your niche and be searchable on sites and aggregators.

  1. Create strong titles for each podcast

Every podcast should have a keyworded name, not just numbers, to tell people what to expect and to make it more discoverable.

  1. Write enticing teaser copy

Make sure the description of your podcast channel, and each podcast you create, is keyworded and sounds exciting enough for your audience to want to listen.

  1. Be consistent

Set a schedule of regular podcasts so people know what to expect. It’s a big commitment, but it’s the only way to keep an audience coming back for more, and telling others about it.

  1. Tell your lists

If you have email marketing lists, send an email to invite them to subscribe to the podcast, send in topic suggestions and guest suggestions, or even get involved by being interviewed online.

  1. Social media

Tell everyone in your social media account about your new podcast channel. Each time you create a new podcast, post about it on your social media pages. Encourage people to share the post with anyone they know who might also be interested in it.

  1. Forums, discussion boards and groups

Post information on your podcast on niche-related areas on the internet where your target audience will congregate.

  1. Your blog

Embed your podcast feed into your site. Also, give a page to each podcast you create. Add a transcript to attract the search engines. Include a call to action or subscribe button.

  1. Be a guest blogger

Guest blog; that is, give free content to one or more blogs related to your niche. Use the link back they should give you to point to you podcast subscription page.

  1. Be a guest on other podcasts

Grow your audience by being a guest on high-profile niche blogs. In this way, you will get a chance to point your URL to the listeners who like what you have to say. Offer a guest spot in exchange, and ask the guest to share the URL once the podcast has been created. Or, offer them a copy they can use as is on their podcast feed once you have finished editing it.

  1. Help a Reporter Out

The HARO website allows you to list yourself as an expert in your niche. Your biography can list your podcast. You can also mention it if you are interviewed and used as a resource for a journalist’s story.

  1. Issue a press release

Tell the world you have a new podcast with the help of a press release. Chances are that journalists interested in your niche, or looking for interesting information to pass along to your readers, will be happy to pick up your story and share it. There are free and paid press release distribution services which can help you spread the word.

  1. Blogger outreach

Blogger outreach is similar to issuing press releases, only it targets top bloggers in top niches. They might be interested in the podcast, the transcript, or having you on as a guest blogger.

Growing your audience for your podcast does not have to be an uphill struggle if you follow these tips and tricks. Use all you’ve learned and you should soon have an ever-growing audience of eager listeners.

6 Powerful Tips for Better Sleep

Many Americans are having difficulties falling asleep at night. Instead of sleeping and dreaming they roll around in their beds trying to fall asleep. The result usually is people not rested enough in the morning and tired all day. This results in stress and less performance on the job or at home. We have developed a list of 6 powerful tips that have helped us to achieve better sleep.

1) Room temperature: Keeping the temperature in your bedroom at 70 degrees Fahrenheit or below is recommended. Too often an overheated bedroom is causing sleep problems. Scientific studies show that the body can better relax with temperatures at 70 degrees or slightly below.

2) Reduce caffeine. A recent study showed that caffeine is not metabolized efficiently and fast enough at night. The effects of caffeine last much longer than most people expect. The result is difficulty falling asleep. Studies have shown better sleeping patterns if no more caffeine is consumed after 6.00 PM.

3) Avoid alcohol. Alcohol will keeps the body from reaching the deeper stages of sleep, where the body does most of its healing and resting. The result of drinking can be a very light sleep or difficulty falling asleep in general.

4) Beds are for sleeping. If you are used to watch TV in bed or even work while being in bed, you may find it much harder to relax and to fall asleep. Remove the TV and do not work in bed. Sleep requires your brain to slowly shutdown and any distraction will cause sleeping problems.

5) Go to bed at around the same time every day. Don’t change your bedtime back and forth. Having a certain schedule developed it will be easier to fall asleep pretty much at the same time every day. A recurring schedule will help your body to get into a sleep pattern and make it easier to fall asleep.

6) Remove the alarm clock from your view. Starring at the time will only create the feeling that you have to sleep, but you are not. These worries will make things even worse. Losing the feeling for time by not seeing the actual and how long you have been awake has shown to improve healthy sleep.
